It's sad, but I keep thinking I'm worth more dead.

At least then the insurance money would pull my family through this. I am ashamed to be in such a situation. I am ashamed to be asking complete strangers for help. I have no choice.
I work no less than 70 hours each week. I do all I can to be a good husband and strong role model for my children. I am active in my church and I am active in my community, serving on various boards and commissions. I am a good man! I have been known to spend the few dollars in my pocket to buy food for a hungry person while I went without. I try so very hard to be what I know I am supposed to be. I do not lie, drink, fornicate or run around with “the guys”.

With all that said, I am going to lose our home. I say “I” instead of “we” because many years ago in front of my family and in the church, I promised my wife I would take care of us. My kids count on daddy to make everything alright. I have to bear the blame for this situation. I have held on for ten years but this time I don’t see a way to catch up. Please understand, we do not live extravagantly. I own one pair of shoes and there is a hole in the sole of one of them. My car is a 1996 Chevy with 240,000 miles. My wife drives a 1993 Ford minivan with 140,000 miles. They both look terrible but they get us where we need to go. We buy off-brand everything, we do not have a satellite dish, there are no designer clothes in our house. We are basic people trying to live like decent human beings. |

When corporate America left me behind, I went into business for myself. For two years I have kept us afloat, although we can’t take vacations and such. It is so frustrating to be in this position. I keep asking God what test I am taking. I'm not suffering like Job, but I certainly understand the test of faith he survived. I continue to believe with all my heart, I continue to worship but I am so tired and
scared. I KNOW I can make life work. I truly believe that with God all things are possible. I have what it takes to succeed but I need some help right now. I swear to you, as a Christian American, I WILL return your generosity to others in need. Please help us if you can. If you can not send a financial gift, then please pray for my family. |
