I have a full time job at which I make just enough income to pay my present bills.  The largest by far is a $335 car note.  Insurance and upkeep average $200 per month (not to mention gas for a weekly commute of over 300 miles). Four smaller active accounts, rent and living expenses comprise at least another $400.

I have considered finding part time work to enable me to make payments on long-outstanding debts as well as establish substantial savings in anticipation of moving elsewhere to eventually better my chances of gainful employment.  However, being already committed to 55 weekly hours from 7 am  to 6 pm drive-to-work/work/drive back home schedule makes me less attractive to potential second job employers than the college-age students with their much more flexible schedules.

I’d like to move out of state and by that time, have my long outstanding credit card debts paid off as well.  These total conservatively $9,000.  As to how they were accrued would be a story within a story, but suffice it to say that I was in a transition period in my young life where I had just finished college and tried to make my way in the world; alone for the first time.  As I was developing an employment track record, so too were my opportunities to be extended unsecured credit.  When income became less (or occasionally non extant), I fell behind and became very worried, to no one’s surprise but my own!  

Although I realize that settlements or charge-offs are options, as I’m pulling myself back up in the working world, I’d like to repair my credit, not just dodge it!  I want to have my old card debts paid off along with proposed moving and start-up expenses when I relocate where better opportunities wait.
